Through practical examples, it delves into the potential of ChatGPT in enhancing research methodologies, fostering research design, and streamlining the academic writing process. Additionally, the discussion extends to the challenges posed by integrating AI technologies like ChatGPT in academic research, including issues of data accuracy and ethical considerations. The aim is to provide an overview of ChatGPT's role in advancing geographic science, offering both a critical assessment and a forward-looking perspective on its potential to reshape the landscape of geography and GIS research.

个人简介：杨洪博士现任英国雷丁大学（University of Reading）教授，博士生导师，入选全球前2%顶尖科学家榜单。主要从事碳循环（碳中和/碳达峰）、环境污染和环境政策等领域的研究。参与和主持欧盟FP6，英国NERC、UKRI、NSH、UCCL，美国Gates基金，挪威RCN等科研项目。在著名学术期刊包括 Nature, Science，PNAS等上发表220余篇 SCI论文。科学研究被BBC，人民日报，中国科学报等媒体广泛报道。担任Nature Communication、ES&T、Water Research等国际期刊审稿人，Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering青年编辑、Remote Sensing客座编辑、PeerJ、Water等国际期刊编辑，英国国家科研与创新署（UKRI） 等基金评审人。
